all a flutter in here. and what about this rain?

on my wall

Because of the truck incident (see Wake Up Call) we didn’t get to go to the Hamilton family reunion this year.  Levon worked that day and I felt rather mopey so I called Grandmother on the hill to hear about what food she was bringing.  My Aunt Gail answered and we talked about the karaoke machine she had secured for the Addair family reunion coming up in September.  After our conversation I decided to throw my sorrows into getting ready for the next reunion and make us some Kick Ass (named after my Uncle Eddie’s mules) t-shirts. Here are a few that I’ve finished:

can you tell what this is? hopefully. it is suppose to be Virginia with an X marking Tazewell (home to the Addair Kick Ass Reunion)

so far i’ve been working on lady’s and baby’s clothes because that’s what i have. men’s and kid’s coming up.

Each one will be different, which leads me to my first announcement:

If you are local and have gently used clothing you’d like to donate, bring ‘em here instead of Goodwill.  There will be 70 or so in attendance and my goal is to make as close to that number as I can get.  The trickiest bit is getting a nice variety of styles and sizes to accomodate everyone.  Whatever you have, there is probably someone in my family that it matches.

the butternut lake monster and a glimpse of his ferocious teeth

Speaking of donations, my dear friend Ashlea Catalana is gathering art for her kindergarten classroom over at Inskip.  If you are an artist who would like to contribute get in touch and I’ll pass along the details.  Bravo for teachers who think outside of those awful, supposedly educational and motivational posters.

Also in this week’s news, Levon, Kentucky, and I would like to send out a thank you to an anonymous Knoxville citizen who found our misplaced wallet and turned it over fully intact to a friendly officer who then returned it to us.  Anniversary celebration saved.

In addition to beginning our ninth year of marriage, I am also starting to work on a new project.  I am still in the figuring stages but am looking forward to whatever comes of it.  Here are some in-process photos:

thinking about ideas of documentation and domesticity

thinking about incorporation of paper and pattern

Stay tuned for thoughts on getting better at family dinner, rituals of childbirth, the last great American man, and reading aloud (because those are the subjects in my latest stack of books).

butternut lake monster does look quite ferocious….that should keep any boogie men away and the kick ass t-shirts are brilliant….in the spirit of little man’s birthmark :-)
